Tour 40. Askøy - the roundtrip
Four kilometres northwest of Bergen, on the other side of Byfjord, lies the island of Askøy, joined to the mainland in 1992 by northern Europe's longest suspension bridge.

Askøy district: With 19,000 inhabitants, Askøy is the most populous rural district in Hordaland. Kleppestø is the administrative centre of the island, which takes its name from a farm called Ask, meaning ash tree. Askøy's coat of arms depicts an ash tree standing on an island or hilltop, with the sea in the foreground.
