Tour 52.  Nordhordland - Masfjorden - the roundtrip

Coastal country – wild and wonderful.

 

Masfjorden district: has a varied and beautiful landscape. From the idyllic sounds furthest out you can enter the fjord arms where the mountains rise to a towering 1000 metres above the fjord. From Stordalen you can go hiking in the famous Stølsheimen mountains. Try your luck at fishing in the bright mountain lakes. Masfjorden is famous for its good inland fishing. Tour 52.  Nordhordland - Masfjorden - the walks

52A: Eikanger

Along the watershed between Eikanger and Høyland the farmers have invested considerable resources in recent years to improve the area for nature walks and other outdoors activities.

Terrain: Local road, tractor roads and trail. Gently broken country with some inclines.

Time: 1 ½ - 2 hours.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

52C: Knarvik centre

The area was at one time marked for industrial use, but far-sighted politicians understood that Knarvik soon would need a natural park and recreational opportunities within walking distance from the village.

Terrain: Mostly flat, pedestrian walks and gravel roads.

Time: 45 minutes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

52D: Haukeland - Kjettland Masfjorden

The old 16th. century wagon road.

Terrain: Forest road, footpath, public road. Some inclines

Time: 2 - 2½ hours
