Tour 11 - Tysnes -  the roundtrips

This tour takes us around the island of Tysnes through a rich and varied landscape in the very hearth of Sunnhordland.

 

Tysnes: an island municipality located where the Hardangerfjord meets the coastal archipelago and the ocean beyond. On the west side of Reksteren there is naked rock polished by North Sea waves while on the east side of Tysnes you find the typical Hardanger landscape with steep mountain sides and lush vegetation. Between these extremes you find a scattering of fjords and islands with mountains up to 750 metres.

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tour 11 - Tysnes - the walks

 

11A: Ramnanuten – Tysnes

The route takes you from the Tysnes School at Gjerstad to the top of Ramnanuten (Raven Peak), and then circles back.

Terrain: Paved and gravel roads, forest roads and trail.

Time: Approx. 1+hours (3.5 km)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

11C: Uggdal

The walk follows a circuitous route in the pine forest west of Kyrkjevatnet in Uggdal. In addition to this walk there are several paths and forest roads in the area, some of which are marked.

Terrain: Paved and gravel roads, forest and path. Gentle terrain

Time: 1.5 hours.
