ABOUT CARWALKS
Experience Hordaland at its best with Car Walks -A unique combination of car trips with well prepared and marked walks of passable duration. A separate walking map has been produced for each trip with special map drawings and informative texts.
Using our special walking maps with map drawings and informative texts for both the car trips and walks, you will easily find your way. The starting point for the walk is clearly marked on the car trip map (roundtrips). The walks start and finish at the point where you park your car, and the walks are from 1 to 3 hours duration at normal walking pace. The routes are well signposted, and together with the map sketches and texts in the walking maps you will find it easy to follow your route.
How Car Walks functions and how to use the walking mapsHordaland is divided into areas numbered 1-8: The walking maps are numbered accordingly, with 10-19 in area 1 and so on. Each trip – round trip and walk – has its own walking maps. There is a minimum of one walk for each round trip.
The walks are numbered with the same number as the area with the addition of a letter. The starting points for the walks are marked on the round trip maps. Some of the roundtrips may have common stretches. Walks in these stretches are marked on both maps with the number of the roundtrip to which they primarily “belong”. In addition to the map sketches there are texts with interesting information about things to see on the trip. Take the walking map with you on the walk, it will help to make your walk and experience more interesting.
RoundtripsThe proposed round trips are based on the use of your own vehicle. Length and duration vary according to geographical conditions. They are designed to be completed in a single day. Travel time is of course dependent on the time spent walking and other stops.
WalksThe roads/footpaths are especially chosen to suit your needs, i.e. tourists in vehicles who would like a little exercise and want to see the countryside in a simple and safe way. In addition to the maps and information on the tour sheets, the routes are all well marked. Tourists do however undertake the trips on their own responsibility.
The starting point for walks are the marked car parks. The walks vary in time from 1 - 3 hours. Information on this and the walk can be obtained from the walk sheets. The average time given for the walks is based on normal walking pace. Stops and rests are individual and extra time must be allowed for these. Enjoy your walk, you can't do them all in one day!
